Rates
Our hourly rate is £35 per hour. We only charge for time working on your problem - we do not charge for for travel time within the Blackdown Hills AONB. Any travel beyond this is charged at 40p per mile.
Some common items are fixed price:
- Virus removal is £50 whether it takes an hour or two days
- Memory upgrade is £12 (plus the cost of the memory)
- Hard disk upgrade is £60 (plus the cost of the new disk)
- Problem diagnosis without fix is £15. This fee is waived if you instruct us to resolve the problem.
All prices include VAT at 20%

Computer Maintenance
We can devise and quote a monthly, quarterly or yearly service plan to suit your needs and number of computers. The service plan will include monitoring the health of your servers, devising and monitoring regular backups, applying key software updates and keeping your network secure.
Computer Repair & Diagnostic
Computer won't start? Can't connect to the Internet? Don't despair, we often help with these sorts of problems and have the skills to diagnose the cause.
We will arrange a time to visit you and investigate the problem. Once we have an idea of what is wrong we will let you know what we think is the necessary action to resolve the problem and get you up and running again.
Our hourly rates are shown to the right but we will always provide an estimate and advise you of related hardware costs before you commit to the suggested action plan. If you decide to continue with the repair, the diagnostic fee will be waived.
Virus, Malware & Spyware Removal
Has your computer been infected? Just worried you might have inadvertently picked up something from the Internet or an email? We can remove viruses and advise how to avoid any future infections. We charge a fixed rate for this and if you don't mind us saying so, we believe it is very good value for money!
Recovery of Lost Data
Lost an important file because you deleted it by accident? Maybe your computer lost all your files due to some sort of hardware failure? It might be possible for us to recover your lost files. Give us a call and we can advise.
Computer Upgrade
Computer running slower than usual? Are you getting warnings about disk space? Do you want to replace your printer but are unsure of which type of printer? We can help you choose the right upgrade - we are not interested in how much you spend, our reward is helping you get what you need. Buying computer equipment has the same pitfalls as buying any other goods - for example, a four wheel drive off-road vehicle and a two-seater convertible are both sorts of car. Both are able to move you from A to B. But if you never take the top down on a convertible or go over rough and slippery terrain in your 4x4 then not only have you paid extra for those abilities but you are also using extra fuel lugging them around with you! It's the same with computer equipment - there is no point buying a printer which can print a high quality photo if all you ever want to print is plain text! Not only are photo printers more expensive, but so is the ink they use.
Not only do Blackdown Computer have very good trading relationships with some computer equipment distributors, we also have an eye for a bargain. We can search out the best price, place an order, take delivery, prepare the equipment for use (e.g. make sure a new computer has the latest security patches and anti virus updates) and personally deliver to you.
